Xact launches Denmark’s first ETF

We are pleased to announce the launching of XACT OMXC25 (UCITS ETF), the first ETF* listed on the Copenhagen stock exchange. XACT OMXC25 provides the opportunity for investors to easily and cost-effectively purchase and sell a basket of the 25 largest and most-traded Danish companies in real time. The low management fee also results in a cost-effective savings.

“I am extremely proud that Xact is the first to list an ETF on the Copenhagen stock exchange. Once again we are pioneers within the ETF segment in the Nordics,” says Pär Nürnberg, CEO of Xact Kapitalförvaltning.

ETFs have been called the financial industry’s greatest innovation of the 21st century and have quickly become very popular as investment and savings vehicles worldwide. Professional investors and small private savers alike understand the benefits of ensuring smooth market exposure at a low cost.

“XACT OMXC25 (UCITS ETF) has, through its transparency and as an index fund, a substantially lower management fee and lower transaction costs than traditional Danish investment associations. These are characteristics that make ETFs so popular, as both a long-term savings vehicle and a tool to make tactical adjustments in your portfolio within seconds,” says Pär Nürnberg.

XACT Sverige – The world’s first Nordic Swan Ecolabelled index fund

Our savings customers will now be able to invest in the first index fund that meets the sustainability requirements of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. The combination of an index fund and a widely-trusted independent label such as the Nordic Swan aims to simplify the selection of a mutual fund.

“Making the right choice should be easy. It shouldn’t be more difficult to select an ecolabelled fund than to choose an ecolabelled laundry detergent. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is well-known and is widely-trusted by consumers. As an independent player, the Nordic Swan Ecolabel acknowledges that XACT Sverige has been reviewed and meets the stringent requirements,” says Pär Nürnberg, CEO of Xact Kapitalförvaltning.

When it became possible to ecolabel funds last year, none of the existing index funds fully complied with the sustainability requirements of an ecolabel. As Sweden’s leading provider of index funds and exchange-traded index funds, we saw this as a challenge and began to collaborate with our index providers as well as one of our sustainability analysis providers. Together, they have successfully developed an entirely new equity index, “SIX Sweden ESG Selection Index”, which meets the sustainability requirements of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.

XACT Sverige is an exchange-traded index fund and its object is to follow the performance of SIX Sweden ESG Selection Index GI as closely as possible. The Index consists of a selection of the most-traded equities on the Nasdaq Stockholm Stock Exchange that fulfil the sustainability requirements in the index. The sustainability requirements mean partly that companies with high sustainability ratings are included (inclusion) in the index, and that companies operating within controversial sectors may not be included (exclusion) in the index.

The Nordic Swan is the official ecolabel in the Nordics and helps consumers make environmentally conscious choices. The fund must meet the 25 mandatory requirements with regard to exclusion, inclusion, transparency and engagement.

Xact Kapitalförvaltning is amending the fund rules of XACT OMXSB [legally registered as XACT OMXSB Utdelande (UCITS ETF)]. The fund will continue to invest in the most- traded equities listed on the Stockholm stock exchange, but will be switching to an index that also contains specific sustainability requirements for those companies included in the index. As a result of the requirements, companies with high sustainability ratings will be included (inclusion) in the index, while companies involved in verified violations of international norms and companies operating within controversial sectors will not be included (exclusion). This does not involve any substantial change to the fund’s investment focus or risk level.

In connection with the index switch, the fund’s name will be changed to XACT Sverige (UCITS ETF).

For detailed information, please refer to the information brochure and the fund’s new sustainability profile, which will be made available at www.handelsbanken.se/funds and xact.se in conjunction with the change.

Xact lists a new Nordic Smart Beta ETF

Today, Xact is listing the first Nordic smart beta ETF, which tracks stable, dividend-paying equities. The fund, XACT Nordic High Dividend Low Volatility, tracks an index that combines dividends and stable returns.

This strategy is used by major institutional investors on the one hand and private savers on the other, and is particularly attractive when traditional low risk investments provide no – or very low – returns.

Complementing dividends with the “low risk” factor (i.e. low volatility in the share) creates the basis for the index to identify stable, dividend-paying stocks – a strategy that has historically provided stronger returns than a traditionally market value-weighted index.

“It’s very pleasing today to list XACT Nordic High Dividend Low Volatility, and to bring the first Nordic smart beta ETF to the market. With our new ETF we aim to meet the market’s demand for stable, dividend-paying equities with a smart exposure in a smart format – and also at a low cost,” says Pär Nürnberg, Chief Executive of Xact Kapitalförvaltning.

The strategy used by the fund has proved successful historically, particularly during periods of rising interest rates.

“This is the reason why we have chosen to launch this fund as our first smart beta ETF,” says Pär Nürnberg.
